Match Report
Bloxham School 2nd XV vs  Magdalen College School
On: Saturday, 09 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

A very frustrating day at the office against MCS, with the Heavens opening at times before ending the game with bright sunshine! Rugby really is a game for all seasons.... To pardon the saying, it was a game of two halves, played in one half. The first half, MCS dominated with resolute defending from Bloxham meaning that only one try was scored. George Price, led from the front, carrying on from his stellar season last year, ensuring that tackles were made and that his team were on point. Freddie Prior was defensively excellent, putting down the opposition, some who were literally four times the size of him. The MCS 10, who seemed to want to kick each time, found Johnnie Graham (MOM) on great form with the high ball, not dropping one all afternoon and counter-attacking well.

The second half led to the onslaught from Bloxham but to no avail, and is something to be worked on in training. The home side were not clinical enough in their finishing and often a pass went astray, with decisions to take the ball back in perhaps not the right option. It is easy to say in hindsight of course! On to Malvern, away, next week, and the chance to add to the many positives from the first game of the season. SDAT
