Match Report
Bloxham School Junior Colts A vs  Pangbourne College
On: Saturday, 23 Sep 2017
Venue: at Home

There was good pressure at start, they could not get out of their 22 due to good line speed. A turnover and quick ball, lead to S Landaw going in for a try in the corner. H Stainton missed the conversion despite a decent attempt. Pangbourne came into the game and kept the ball for a few phases but Bloxham held firm. A good scrum almost resulted in a turnover. A good counter ruck lead to a Bloxham penalty which was kicked to touch by H Stainton. A driving maul from the forwards lead to quick ball which unfortunately was knocked on. Good line speed again meant Pangbourne were struggling to get out of their 22. A great scrum almost lead to a try from S Landaw. Another nice counter ruck from the forwards lead to G King going in under the posts. A nice conversion by H Stainton was kicked to make it 12-0. Good pressure yet again lead to another close shave, but there was a knock on near the 5 metre line. Pangbourne still weren’t going anywhere and Bloxham were starting to really pull away. A great turnover at the scrum, which was excellent all game, lead to a great chance for I Wang who scored out wide. H Stainton failed to convert again. It was 17-0 halfway through the first half. There was a decent kick by H Stainton and great chase by I Wang which forced Pangbourne to kick it into touch. Off the lineout there was some good interplay by the forwards. That interplay lead to a try by T Rymer who sniped at the base of the ruck to score in the corner. The conversion was just missed by H Stainton.

Half time 22-0

There was a great start to the second half with a run down the wing by C Yates and a nice out the back offload to S Landaw. Great interplay from the forwards leads us into 22, with a good finish by S Landaw in the corner. The kick from H Stainton from the sideline just misses. It was 27-0. Bloxham went quiet for a while and a few missed tackles lead to an unconverted try from Pangbourne. The response from Bloxham was excellent and we went close after some tidy offloading down the short side. The great line speed from the backs returned and this forced more turnovers after a good spell from Pangbourne. Great phase play lead to T Oliver crashing over for another Bloxham try, a simple conversion from H Stainton took the score to 34-5. Bloxham then worked their way the length of the pitch which led to H Stainton going over the paint and then converting his own try. The Bloxham discipline was poorer after this and we conceded several penalties we shouldn’t have. Yet again there was phenomenal counter ruck, a part of the game we dominated from first whistle to last. The ball went out of play and the final whistle was blown. A good performance from fist minute til last with the only negative the try against and some handling at times.

Full time, 39-5
