Match Report
Bloxham School 1st XV vs  Bishop Vesey's Grammar School
On: Saturday, 13 Nov 2021
Venue: at Home

Bloxham 56, Bishop Vesey’s 5

Bloxham played some of their best rugby of the season in despatching traditionally tough opponents in fine fashion on a perfect day for running rugby. The home side started with a bang, with Dougie Oliver scoring two tries in the opening minutes, before Bishop Vesey’s pulled one back with a drive from a 5-metre lineout. The pick of the ten Bloxham tries came from man-of-the-match Caleb Bowden, who injected real dynamism into midfield on his debut and struck up a promising partnership with Jonny Sealey. Bloxham led 31-5 at half time and kept up a high tempo after the interval, with four changes for the second half representing no weakening of the side. Jamie Angus, in particular, made a big impression and finished off a flowing movement which went the whole length of the pitch for the final try. This was an encouraging and very entertaining performance from Bloxham, with the referee, who kept the game flowing throughout, especially complimentary about captain Stan Deeley’s leadership of the team.
