Bloxham 41 Dean Close 15

The scoreline does not tell the whole story of this match. At half-time Bloxham only led 15-10 thanks to two tries from the unstoppable Felix Hunt and a third from Caleb Bowden after a powerful break; Dean Close were still in touch after a half in which Bloxham frustrated themselves and their coaches with a lack of control and a tendency to play complicated rugby at the wrong end of the pitch, which got them into trouble on several occasions. In the second half the home side's forwards gradually got on top, thanks chiefly to some powerful driving runs from Alex Myles, who also scored a brace of tries and was joint 'man of the match' with Hunt. Some good rugby was played and further tries followed from Bowden and Lewis Jones, with three conversions kicked, while Dean Close scored a well-worked try of their own. In the end Bloxham can be pleased to have played well in patches, but they will need to be much more efficient and street-wise in the remaining games of the season.
