Lost 39-12.
Writing a match report that follows 38 years of SJB brilliance is a challenge. A young Bloxham XV travelled to Marlborough, to take on a strong and powerful team who moved the ball with fluency,
Bloxham took time to adapt to the speed of the game, going 10-0 down quickly. However for the middle 40 minutes of the game Bloxham played with an exceptional spirit, pulling the game to 20-12. Denny and Goode regularly causing problems for the Marlborough defence.
Eventually the heat started to impact and Bloxham gave away some late scores, which gave the result a larger gap than the Bloxham side deserved. McGowan, McRae and Baldwin in the back row provided constant reminder physicality, pressurising the opposition constantly.
there is no doubt that Marlborough deserved the victory, but Bloxham showed promise for the season ahead.
